net.art generator

Computer program, since 1999
net.art generators are easy to use computer programs on the World Wide Web which collect texts and images with the aid of search engines by entering an (artist’s) name and a title. It then collages the material to create a new work or a new website. The entered title serves as the search keyword. The results are stored online in an archive and are available for downloading. Five versions of the net.art generator, nag_01 to nag_05, have been produced in collaboration with six different programmers since 1999. Comprehensive documentation is available at the project’s homepage: http://net.art-generator.com.
All art.net generators are written in the computer language PERL and are available under the GPL (General Public License) since 2003; their code can be downloaded and freely modified from the website: http://net.art-generator.com/src/sou.html.
A preliminary version of the program was developed in 1997 in conjunction with the female extension project, the hack of the first net.art competition organized by a museum: http://artwarez.org/projects/femext.

net.art generator

Computerprogramm, seit 1999
